# IMSUB

## Content

This function returns the difference between two complex numbers in the x+yi or x+yj text format.

## Syntax

`IMSUB(complexnum1, complexnum2)`

## Arguments

The *complexnum1* is a complex number from which to subtract the other complex number *complexnum2*.

## Remarks

An error is returned if the arguments are not in the form "x+yi" or "x+yj". For more information, refer to [Complex Numbers](/spreadjs/docs/v16/formulareference/formulaoverview/functionsformula/complexnumbers).

## Data Types

Accepts number and string data. Returns string data.

## Examples

`IMSUB("2+5j","5+3i")`
