# INTRATE

## Content

This function calculates the interest rate for a fully invested security.

## Syntax

`INTRATE(settle, mature, invest, redeem, basis)`

## Arguments

This function has these arguments:

| Argument | Description |
| -------- | ----------- |
| *settle* | Settlement date for the security. |
| *mature* | Maturity date for the security. |
| *invest* | Amount invested in the security. |
| *redeem* | Amount to be received at maturity. |
| *basis* | [Optional] Integer representing the basis for day count (Refer to [Day Count Basis](/spreadjs/docs/v16/formulareference/formulaoverview/functionsformula/DayCountBasis).) |

## Remarks

This function returns a #VALUE! error when *settle* or *mature* is invalid. *Settle*, *mature*, and *basis* are truncated to integers. 

* If *invest* or *redeem* is less than or equal to 0, a #NUM! error is returned. 
* If *basis* is less than 0 or greater than 4, a #NUM! error is returned. 
* If *settle* is greater than or equal to mature, a #NUM! error is returned.

## Data Types

Accepts numeric data for all arguments. Returns numeric data.

## Examples

`INTRATE(A1,B3,70000,72000,3)`

`INTRATE(R1C1,R4C4,82000,86500,2)`

`INTRATE("3/1/2003","5/31/2003",65000,70000,2)` gives the result 0.304311074
