# COUNT

This function returns the number of cells that contain numbers.

## Syntax

`COUNT(value1, value2, ...)`

`COUNT(array)`

## Arguments

The arguments may be separate values or an array of values. Up to 255 arguments of individual cells may be included.

## Remarks

This function counts the number of cells that contain numbers in the specified cell range.

This function differs from [COUNTA](/spreadjs/docs/v17/formulareference/FormulaFunctions/statistical-functions/COUNTA) which also includes text or logical values as well as numbers.

## Data Types

Accepts cell references. Returns numeric data.

## Examples

`COUNT(B2,B5,B8,D5,D8)`

`COUNT(A1:G5)`

`COUNT(R6C3:R9C4,2)`
