NEGBINOM.DIST

This function returns the negative binomial distribution.

Syntax

NEGBINOM.DIST(x, r, p, cumulative)

Arguments

This function has these arguments:

Argument

Description

x

An integer representing the number of failures in trials

r

An integer representing the threshold number of successes

p

Probability of success on each trial A number between 0 and 1

cumulative

A logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is TRUE, this function returns the cumulative distribution function; if FALSE, it returns the probability density function

Remarks

The number of successes is fixed and the number of trials is variable. If  p is less than 0 or greater than 1, the function returns the #NUM! error value. If  x is less than 0 an error is returned. If  r is less than 1 an error is returned.

Data Types

Accepts numeric data for all arguments. Returns numeric data.

Examples

NEGBINOM.DIST(B1,C15,0.335,TRUE)

NEGBINOM.DIST(R1C2,R15C3,0.75,TRUE)

NEGBINOM.DIST(4,13,0.85,TRUE) gives the result 0.9012900017858557
